Got a Tip?

Joss Whedon Teases More ‘Avengers’ Could Appear In ‘Age Of Ultron’

Avengers, poster cutAvengers: Age of Ultron” is stacked. The movie already features twelve heroes: Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), War Machine (Don Cheadle), The Vision (Paul Bettany), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). The latter two start out as villains and then, presumably, join the team later. That’s not even to mention Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), who are also going to appear, again presumably, briefly.

But there’s more. Superhero scoopster El Mayimbe writes on his Instagram account, “#MASSIVE #MARVEL #RUMOR RT! All the#AVENGERS in #AgeofUltron are accounted for…except ONE. Any guesses?” That’s followed up by a quick and teasing reveal from ‘Ultron’ director Joss Whedon in an interview with Marvel’s Lorraine Cink that hit today.

“Will we be seeing Marvel characters who aren’t yet in the preview photos? Are we going to be seeing other Marvel characters that we’ve seen in other films or other parts of the universe?" she asked. Whedon answered simply, "Yes."

The news reporter suggests one more character, and while Whedon isn’t saying much more, all signs point to just a single addition. Who could it be? Well, we do already know that a few new Marvel characters are on the way and they’ll appear in their own movies, includingBlack Panther,” “Dr. Strange,” “The Inhumans,” “Ant-Man,” and Spider-Man, who has now crossed over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will likely appear in the “Captain America: Civil War.” Could the character be Captain Marvel, set to be Marvel’s first solo female-fronted movie? Will the introduction of this new mystery character just be a Marvel Easter Egg or something more? Latino Review, the outlet that El Mayimbe works for, first reported that Captain Marvel (sometimes known as Ms, Marvel), would be the last ‘Avenger’ back in 2014. Is this rumor finally coalescing a year later? We’ll have to wait, but not too long: ‘Age Of Ultron’ hits theaters on May 1st. Speculate away and watch the clip with the Whedon interview in question below.
