This weekend, we encourage you to experience the ultimate high, and no we’re not advocating illegal drug use. Rather, all you have to do is buy a ticket at your local theater for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s "Inherent Vice" and you’ll be whisked into a topsy-turvy, supremely baked, sunny noir, where nothing makes sense until it all does. You’d expect nothing less from a Thomas Pynchon adaptation, and to get you in the spirit, a new ’70s style trailer has dropped.
A little bit grindhouse flavored, and appropriately aged and worn, this is a cute little piece of promo that replaced Joanna Newsom‘s squeaky voiceover with something completely different. There are little bits of new footage if you’re really curious, but at this point, you’re either going to see the movie or not (and we urge to do so). Meanwhile, The Film Stage has cooked up an unofficial, but still pretty interesting alternate poster, designed by Midnight Marauder. All combined, you should be as ready as ever to watch "Inherent Vice." Check out both the trailer and poster below.
