5 1/2 Hour Director’s Cut Of Lars Von Trier’s ‘Nymphomaniac’ Goes VOD October 2

Lars Von Trier, NymphomaniacWhat happens when you take the director’s cut of two Lars Von Trier erotic comedies (if you want to call them that) and merge them together in an uncensored, uncut form? You get “Nymphomaniac” (no ‘Volumes’ necessary) in a version that runs five-and-a-half hours long.

The one big film will make its world premiere at Fantastic Fest, which begins later this week (showing in a single sitting, though both parts screened separately in Venice). But on October 2nd, the film will be released day-and-date across multiple platforms in several territories. On that day, “Nymphomaniac” will be released in the U.S., Canada, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Estonia, as well as in von Trier’s native Denmark, with more territories to follow in the weeks to come. (Denmark will be the only territory to get the film theatrically).

“Nymphomaniac” was originally released in two chapters earlier this year (read our polar opposite takes on ‘Volume 1’ and ‘Volume 2’; of which this writer feels the opposite of both reviews, so there you go).

Presumably you already know that the film, an erotic comedy, tragedy, and drama, is about a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who recounts her story to a stranger, flashing back on her life from childhood up until the present day. The ensemble movie stars Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stellan Skarsgard, plus Stacy Martin, Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe and many more. Now you perverts can watch it in the safety of your own home (ew).
