Until last month at the Toronto International Film Festival, I had never watched an episode of the acclaimed anthology series “Black Mirror.” But after viewing the two episodes of season three — “San Junipero” and “Nosedive“ — I was hooked. Sharp, smart, dark, and funny, the show from Charlie Brooker is lots of fun and I’m eager to dive into the past seasons as soon as I can. And certainly, the upcoming six-episode third season promises to satisfy longtime fans as well as newcomers.
The talent pulled together for the next installments of “Black Mirror” is impressive with Joe Wright, Dan Trachtenberg (“10 Cloverfield Lane“) and James Watkins (“The Woman In Black“) among the directors, and Bryce Dallas Howard, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alice Eve, Mackenzie Davis, and Kelly Macdonald among the acting talent. Season three will even have its first ninety-minute episode with “Hated In The Nation,” which is said to be inspired by “The Killing” and “Borgen.” Damn.
“Black Mirror” season 3 hits Netflix on October 21st.
