Way back in the spring, “It Follows” director David Robert Mitchell started putting together his next movie, “Under The Silver Lake,” and landed a big star for the lead role with Andrew Garfield. The next few months went quiet, but things are gearing up quickly and the director has put together a pretty terrific ensemble for the upcoming picture.
Riley Keough (“The Girlfriend Experience,” “American Honey”), Topher Grace (“Interstellar,” “Truth”), Zosia Mamet (“Girls”), Jimmi Simpson (“Westworld,” “House Of Cards”) are the bigger names joining the crew, with veteran character actor Patrick Fischler, Luke Baines, Callie Hernandez, Riki Lindome, and Don McManus rounding out the cast of the movie that’s now in production.
Described as a Los Angeles-set, noir crime thriller (yep, we’re sold already) the story revolves around the strange circumstances involving the kidnapping of a billionaire’s daughter.
A24 has already snapped up the U.S. rights which shows their confidence in the project, and certainly, Mitchell has proven himself to be one of the most distinctive genre filmmakers of the moment, and this could be his biggest movie yet. [THR/Deadline]
