Well geez, SXSW, you’re really bringing the heat this year. Set to close things off in Austin this year will be the sci-fi “Life.” Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ryan Reynolds, directed by Daniel Espinosa (“Safe House“), and written by “Deadpool” duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, this one follows a mission to Mars that goes wrong. Here’s the official synopsis:

Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.

Perhaps even more impressive is the addition of “Atomic Blonde” (formerly known as “The Coldest City“) to the lineup. Starring Charlize Theron and James McAvoy, it’s the new movie from “John Wick” co-director and “Deadpool 2” helmer David Leitch, and that alone puts it on the map for us. Here’s the official synopsis:

The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission.  Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.

“Life” opens on March 24th, and “Atomic Blonde” will land on July 28th.Atomic-Blonde
