Warner Bros. and DC Films could probably use a break from everyone speculating about the state of “The Flash,” so here comes a not-so coincidentally timed first look at Amber Heard as Mera in “Aquaman,” from director James Wan, and the actress herself.

Currently, the studios’ only superhero film set for 2018, production is now underway on the Jason Momoa led effort, that also co-stars Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Dolph Lundgren. That’s quite a cast, and it’ll be interesting to see what tone Wan strikes, given the serious nature of the DCEU so far. Certainly, a lighter touch wouldn’t be a bad thing, especially for a character that is already a bit goofy to start with.
