Got a Tip?

Rumor: Jesse Eisenberg Cut From ‘Justice League’

In the latest of series of fires that Warner Bros. and DC Films can’t seem to extinguish completely, Joss Whedon‘s reputation took a major hit this week, with revelations about his personal conduct with his ex-wife. I’m not going to get into that here, but needless to say, it’s another issue for WB/DC to workout as Whedon has been pegged to be the new Zack Snyder of sorts for the cinematic universe of films. But for right now, he’s focused on getting the reshoots for “Justice League” finished and the movie in the can for release this fall, and it looks like one character has fallen by the way side.

No one was a particular fan of Jesse Eisenberg‘s twitchy, squeaky turn as Lex Luthor in “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice,” but last year, he had been reportedly confirmed, to be among the returning cast members for “Justice League.” However, according to Batman On Film, Eisenberg either never had a part in the superhero team up movie and/or he’s been axed anyway. Here’s what they said:

He doesn’t have [a role]. If he did prior to all the changes/reshoots, it was cut.

Frankly, it makes sense. With the set up for Darkseid being dumped, and Steppenwolf becoming the big bad in the reshoots, Luthor’s scenes are probably no longer necessary. If you remember, the character set up Darkseid in a deleted scene from ‘Dawn Of Justice,’ but it looks like everyone since the story has pivoted, Luthor is no longer needed.

“Justice League” opens on November 17th.
