Got a Tip?

‘House Of Cards’ Season 6 Unlikely To Be Canceled, But Facing Tight Deadline

Netflix didn’t waste a second when it came to distancing themselves from Kevin Spacey following allegations of sexual harassment and assault, some of which occurred on the set of “House Of Cards.” The streaming service declared they would not go forward with the show if Spacey was involved, and the actor’s involvement is indeed likely over. Meanwhile, production on season six was halted as Netflix and production company Media Rights Capital figured out what to do, and how to reconfigure the series without Spacey’s involvement. Well, it looks like we’ll have an answer soon.

CNN reports that the sixth and final season of “House Of Cards” looks likely to go ahead, but writers and producers are on a severe time crunch. It’s expected that an announcement will be made by Thanksgiving — that’s when currently suspended crew members will know if they still have a job (they are still being paid during the hiatus).

Part of the reason why scheduling is so vital is that cast and crew members have allotted a certain amount of time to work on “House Of Cards,” which was originally expected to wrap next May. Pushing things back might not be possible as cast and crew likely have other jobs lined up.

It’s a daunting task to completely scrap and start writing and planning an entirely new vision for a season of a show in a matter of weeks, but “House Of Cards” is sure as hell gonna try. And I’d imagine whatever is being planned will be done with an eye toward the spinoffs that are currently in development.
