Never Before Seen 'The Breakfast Club' Deleted Scene Surfaces

There is currently a whole generation who only know Molly Ringwald as Archie’s Mom on “Riverdale.” But to the rest of us older folks, the actress was a central figure as we came of age at the movies, and few films were as iconic to those times as “The Breakfast Club.” And there’s much more to discover.

John Hughes‘ classic is getting the cineaste seal of approval with an upcoming release on The Criterion Collection. The release is going to come loaded with extras, but the highlight for many will be the whopping fifty minutes of never-before-seen deleted and extended scenes. Yep, a whole lot of material was left on the cutting room floor — in fact, it was rumored that Hughes destroyed the negatives of these extra scenes, and retained the only complete copy on film.

At any rate, Criterion has dug up a wealth of material, and in this scene, Claire tries unsuccessfully to connect with Ally Sheedy‘s oddball Allison. It’s a just a taste of much more to come. “The Breakfast Club” hits DVD and Blu-ray via Criterion on January 2, 2018. [Vulture]
