Got a Tip?

‘The Prodigy’ Trailer: Taylor Schilling Attempts To Find Out What Evil Lurks Inside Her Young Son

On paper, the synopsis for “The Prodigy” sounds like your typical modern-day horror film. A mom worries about her young son as he begins to exhibit odd behavior. After some investigation, the mother begins to think that her little kid could possibly be possessed. But then you watch the trailer for the film, and it looks like there’s something more than just your typical jump-scare fest.

The trailer for the film reveals the real plot of the film, which is definitely a possessed kid story but with a twist. As we learn early in the footage, Miles is a young man with extraordinary gifts. He’s able to say his first word as an infant, do complex math problems as a toddler, and just is clearly a prodigy (get it?). But with this advanced brain comes some…odd side effects. He’s antisocial and perhaps a little violent. He looks cute and adorable, but underneath is the capability to hurt people. Overall, we’re excited to say, this looks interesting.

No, we’re not saying that “The Prodigy” is going to be the best horror film of 2019, but overall, the trailer for the film is actually decent. “The Prodigy” stars Taylor Schilling of “Orange is the New Black” Fame, alongside Jackson Robert Scott, Peter Mooney, and Colm Feore.

“The Prodigy” hits theaters on February 8, 2019.

Here’s the synopsis:

In her much-anticipated foray into the horror-thriller genre, Taylor Schilling stars in THE PRODIGY as Sarah, a mother whose young son Miles’ disturbing behavior signals that an evil, possibly supernatural force has overtaken him. Fearing for her family’s safety, Sarah must grapple with her maternal instinct to love and protect Miles in favor of investigating what – or who – is causing his dark turn. She is forced to look for answers in the past, taking the audience on a wild ride; one where the line between perception and reality remains blurry.
