Earlier today, we woke up to two new first looks courtesy of EW. The first, and definitely most anticipated, was the first good look at the characters (including Will Smith’s “Don’t call me Sinbad” version of the Genie) in Disney’s upcoming “Aladdin.” But for our money, the most exciting first look comes from the upcoming HBO film based on the series “Deadwood.”
2018 started with the idea of a “Deadwood” feature film being nothing more than a rumor and a dream. Then came the rumblings that there very well might be a film. That was quickly shot down by star Timothy Olyphant who said, in no uncertain terms, that there was “no fucking way” a “Deadwood” film would happen. And yet, we’re in December and we now have our first look at Olyphant and co-star Ian McShane sporting their Western attire in the upcoming “Deadwood” film.

And while it’s exciting to see our favorite characters from arguably HBO’s most underrated series to date back in action, the really great part of the first look is that these pictures even exist. This proves that the “Deadwood” film isn’t some elaborate prank pulled by the network and creator/writer David Milch. This is seriously going to happen.
The first image shows McShane as the scene-stealing Swearengen, who doesn’t look a day older than when he was featured in the original series, despite it being well over a decade. Not much context to the picture other than it exists. Guys, I really think this “Deadwood” film is actually happening.

The only other picture is of Timothy “No Fucking Way” Olyphant, who definitely is starting to show his age, with his brand-new bushy (and graying) mustache. EW says that the years have done well for Bullock, who is now a U.S. Marshall. Seriously, we’re getting a “Deadwood” movie, people.
There’s no official release date for the film as of yet, but HBO has said it’ll come in 2019. And joining McShane and Olyphant is all your other favorite cast members. Plan accordingly.
