Got a Tip?

‘Up In The Air’ Writer Sheldon Turner To Write And Direct ‘By Virtue Fall’

“Up In The Air” co-writer Sheldon Turner will both write and direct his first feature “By Virtue Fall,” Variety reports.

The film will center around a man who gets framed by a mentor figure and subsequently serves prison time. After being released, the man seeks revenge on his former mentor who has since sought a new life. The film will presumably focus mainly on these two male leads, as Turner states that it “is a film that’s designed to showcase and challenge two great actors.”

In addition to directing for the first time, this script will also mark the first time that Turner will work on a fully original story without a writing partner. “[Directing] is something that I’ve long held in high regard. I approach it cautiously and reverently. This script was the first I’ve written that made me feel like I had no choice but to embark on my directing career,” Turner told Variety. “I cannot imagine anyone else directing this script.”

Turner, in addition to co-writing and winning several awards for “Up In The Air” with director Jason Reitman, also co-wrote the screenplay for Ben Affleck’s “The Town,” which will see release on September 10th. The low-key “Virtue” is set to begin shooting this September with a budget of $20 million or less.
