Simon Pegg & J.K. Simmons To Star In Heist Comedy 'My Only Sunshine' From Director Mark Palansky

Having a successful marriage is no easy feat. And couples will go to extreme lengths to make sure the union survives. But most probably wouldn’t go so far as to rob a bank. In the new film, “My Only Sunshine,” a couple does just that, with seemingly disastrous consequences.

Deadline is reporting that Simon Pegg and J.K. Simmons are set to star in the film “My Only Sunshine,” from director Mark Palansky. As mentioned, the film follows the story of a dysfunctional married couple that devises a plan to rob a bank as a sort of twisted marriage counseling. As you might expect, the situation turns chaotic when a hostage negotiator is called into the scene and the couple must come to terms with the origins of their relationship.

Palansky is probably best known for his 2006 film “Penelope.” Since then, he’s directed a couple of episodes of the Netflix series “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” as well as the 2017 film “Rememory,” starring Peter Dinklage.

Recently, Pegg has shown up in the popular Amazon superhero series “The Boys,” as well as the 2018 hit “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.” He’s scheduled to be a voice in the highly-anticipated Netflix series “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.”

Simmons’ most recent film is a huge blockbuster that we won’t name, for fear of spoilers. Other than that, he’s shown up in projects like “Veronica Mars,” “Brockmire,” and his Amazon series “Counterpart.”

No word on when we might see “My Only Sunshine” in theaters, as the film is set to be sold at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. However, production is slated to begin in the fall, pointing to a 2020 release.
