‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Super Bowl Teaser: Tom Cruise Feels The Need For Speed Once Again

Tom Cruise is hoping that 34 years has not been a long enough time for folks to forget about his “Top Gun” film franchise. Because whether you like it or not, the actor is feeling the need for speed once again, and he’s releasing “Top Gun: Maverick” later this year. And what better place to debut a new teaser for the over-the-top action film than during the world’s most over-the-top sporting event?

That’s right, thanks to the Super Bowl, we’re getting a new look at the upcoming action film and its star Cruise, as he puts on the suit and helmet one more time as the title character Maverick and fights bad guys in the skies. This time, he doesn’t have the beloved Goose (RIP) backing him up on his adventures. Instead, he’s got a whole new team of recruits that will be entering the Danger Zone.

Leading the way in the new cast is Miles Teller, playing Rooster, the son of the aforementioned Goose. He’s joined by Jay Ellis, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Monica Barbaro, and Danny Ramirez as the new pilots that Cruise will have to whip into shape.

“Top Gun: Maverick” is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who is probably best known for his previous films “Tron: Legacy” and “Oblivion.” Fans of the latter film will no doubt remember that the sci-fi feature stars Cruise himself. And apparently, the actor enjoyed his time working with Kosinski, as he’s brought the filmmaker along to help kickstart a new action franchise after more than three decades of sitting on the shelf.

“Top Gun: Maverick’ will debut in theaters on June 26. You can watch the new Super Bowl teaser below.
