Got a Tip?

Jessica Chastain & Anne Hathaway To Star As Rival Housewives In The Upcoming Drama ‘Mothers’ Instinct’

Folks could argue that there are no finer actresses in the world than Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway. And thanks to the upcoming film, “Mothers’ Instinct,” we are going to get the chance to watch these two act opposite each other as friends-turned-enemies.

According to Deadline, Chastain and Hathaway have signed on to co-star in the upcoming film, “Mothers’ Instinct,” which will be directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse. The film is based on the novel “Derrière La Haine” by novelist Barbara Abel and will be adapted by Sarah Conradt, who previously worked on the Quibi horror anthology, “50 States of Fright.” Previously, the novel was adapted in the 2018 Belgian film, “Duelles.”

“Mothers’ Instinct” tells the story of two women that are best friends and neighbors, living a seemingly idyllic life. However, when a tragedy strikes, the women find themselves at odds, as paranoia and guilt begin to unravel their tight bond.

“It takes actors of Jessica and Anne’s caliber to communicate the intricacy of these two roles,” said Masset-Depasse. “The relationship between a mother and child is the most powerful connection between two human beings. When this bond is severed, it calls into question conventional morality and even sanity. In the behind-closed-doors atmosphere of 1960s America, ‘Mothers’ Instinct’ becomes a terrifying, high-pressure powder keg.”

Chastain most recently appeared in the thriller, “Ava.” She’s next expected to star in the spy film, “The 355,” as well as features such as “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and the recently announced, “Scenes From A Marriage.” Hathaway is the star of the just-released fantasy-horror film, “The Witches.” She also is currently in production on the pandemic-inspired film, “Lockdown,” and is attached to a feature, “Bum’s Rush.”
