If horror films have taught people anything, it’s never to trust a creepy doll. Often, they’ll come to life and murder you. Sci-fi films have also taught us lessons, such as androids are going to murder you. So, why would anyone decide the best thing to do is to create an android that looks like a creepy doll? Apparently, the characters in “M3GAN” didn’t get that memo.
As seen in the trailer for “M3GAN,” a woman becomes the guardian of her young niece after the girl’s parents die in a car crash. Luckily, the woman is an expert roboticist and has developed a life-like doll programmed to be the best toy ever. As you might expect, the doll is actually a bit too protective and will murder you if you cross it.
The horror film stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ronny Chieng, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jen Van Epps, Lori Dungey, and Stephane Garneau-Monten. “M3GAN” is directed by Gerard Johnstone, who previously worked on the underrated “Housebound,” and written by Akela Cooper, who scripted “Malignant” and the upcoming “The Nun 2.” The film is produced by Blumhouse and James Wan.

Here’s the synopsis:
M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Out’s Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to. When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.
