‘Tiny Beautiful Things’ Trailer: Kathryn Hahn Leads New Hulu Series About An Advice Column Writer Whose LIfe Has Fallen Apart

What would you do if you could share life lessons with the younger you? Would you tell them to not stress over something minor? Maybe tell them to cherish the moments with their parents? This is what drives the plot of the upcoming family drama, “Tiny Beautiful Things.”

Hulu’s upcoming “Tiny Beautiful Things” series is based on the book of the same name written by “Wild” author Cheryl Strayed. The book is a collection of essays she wrote in an advice column titled “Dear Sugar” for The Rumpus. Kathryn Hahn will be playing that “Dear Sugar,” taking over that advice column from a writing friend.

Joining Hahn is an all-star cast comprised of Sarah Pidgeon, Quentin Plair, Tanzyn Crawford, Owen Painter, Merritt Wever, Elizabeth Hinkler, and Michaela Watkins. The series is created by Liz Tigelaar, best known for having written episodes of “Revenge,” and “Once Upon a Time,” and as the showrunner for Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere,” which co-starred Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Based on the best-selling collection by Cheryl Strayed, ‘Tiny Beautiful Things’ follows Clare (Kathryn Hahn) a floundering writer who becomes a revered advice columnist while her own life is falling apart. When we first meet Clare, her marriage to her husband Danny is barely limping along; her teenage daughter, Rae, is pushing her away; and her once-promising writing career is non-existent. So when an old writing pal asks her to take over as the advice columnist Dear Sugar, she thinks she has no business giving anyone advice.  After reluctantly taking on the mantle of Sugar however, Clare’s life unfurls in a complex fabric of memory, exploring her most pivotal moments from childhood through present day, and excavating the beauty, struggle, and humor in her unhealed wounds. Through Sugar, Clare forms a salve for her readers –  and for herself – to show us that we are not beyond rescue, that our stories can ultimately save us.  And, perhaps, bring us back home.”

Produced by Tigelaar, Witherspoon, Strayed, Hahn, Lauren Neustadter, Laura Dern, Jayme Lemons, and Stacey Silverman, “Tiny Beautiful Things” is expected to premiere on Hulu on April 7.
