‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’: Margot Robbie & Colin Farrell Romantic Fantasy Film From Kogonada Delayed To September 19 By Sony

Filmmaker Kogonada (“After Yang”) is set to release his latest directorial effort this year with “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” a romantic fantasy movie that stars the heavyweight duo of Colin Farrell (“The Penguin”) and Margot Robbie (“Barbie”). However, the studio has decided to unleash it later in the year than originally planned.

Sadly, audiences will have to wait a little longer as there is an update from The Hollywood Reporter, as Sony Pictures has pushed the film’s release date from May 9 to September 19.

The script was penned by Seth Reiss, who previously wrote the satirical horror film “The Menu” and an episode of HBO‘s “Regime.” Concrete details have yet to be made official, but Variety calls the “female-centric” pic “an imaginative tale of two strangers and the extraordinary emotional journey that connects them.”

Lily Rabe (“Shrinking”), Jodie Turner-Smith (“The Acolyte”), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Indiana Jones & The Dial of Destiny”), Billy Magnussen (“Road House”), Hamish Linklater (“Nickel Boys”), and Sarah Gadon (“Ferrari”) are among the film’s supporting cast.

“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” was originally set to go head-to-head with the upcoming A24 absurdist bro-down comedy “Friendship led by Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd in May before this new push to September. Instead, that new spot will now see the pic going up against the Universal horror flick “Him” and 20th Century Studios‘ “Ella McCay.”

Of course, Kogonada previously worked with Farrell in the sci-fi family drama “After Yang,” he’s also known for the acclaimed series “Pachinko” and dipped his toes into the “Star Wars” universe with The High Republic era show, “The Acolyte.”
