Ludwig Göransson has entered an esteemed group of composers. The songwriter and music producer won his third Original Song Academy Award for “Sinners” on Sunday night. No other composer has won more than two Oscars in this category this century. The closests are Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who won for “The Social Network” and “Soul.”

A six-time nominee, Göransson previously won for “Black Panther” in 2019 and “Oppenheimer” in 2024. He’s also been nominated in the Original Song category for “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in 2023 and this year for “I Lied To You,” also from “Sinners.”
The Swedish native took the BAFTA Award, the Golden Globe Award, and the Critics’ Choice Award for his fourth collaboration with director and screenwriter Ryan Coogler. Last month, he won his fifth and sixth Grammy Awards for “Sinners” in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media categories. He has earned a staggering 19 Grammy nominations so far.
Göransson is also a two-time Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Original Dramatic Score) for “The Mandalorian.”
His other credits include “Fruitvale Station,” “Creed,” “Creed II,” “Tenet,” Pixar’s “Turning Red,” and “Venom,” among others. His next score contributions are expected to be “The Mandalorian and Grogu” and his third Christopher Nolan film, “The Odyssey.”
