'MacGruber' Trailer Arrives, He's More Of A Three Wire Guy

There is a small — a very small — contingent of Playlisters whose inner 12 year-old got kind of giddy watching the first trailer for the forthcoming SNL sketch comedy film, “MacGruber.” Yes, it looks mind-meltingly awful and yes, Val Kilmer has surpassed Vince Vaughan levels of bloatedness, but we have to admit the trailer did get a couple of chuckles out of (some) of us.

In case you don’t tune in to SNL these days (and we don’t blame you) “MacGruber” is based on a series of literally one-minute sketches where an inept, MacGuyver-esque hero continually fails to save the day. The sketches are funny in the way lots of things are funny when you’re drunk on Saturday night, but we have to say we’re disappointed that the film didn’t take the alcoholic/depressed MacGruber to the big screen that provided some of the best fodder for the skits.

Anyway, “MacGruber” opens on April 23, 2010 and stars Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, Ryan Phillippe, Powers Boothe, Maya Rudolph and Bill Hader. Check your brain at the door, but whatever, if it sucks? We’re sure when watched inebriated, it will be fine.
