Mark Millar has shamelessly namedropped Sam Raimi and Guy Ritchie as potential helmers for his “what if Bruce Wayne was the Joker” graphic novel, “Nemesis.” And with ‘Kick-Ass” already tightening geeks’ pants all over the country, don’t be surprised if the film adaptation comes to fruition quickly. Millar is, of course, also the comic writer behind “Wanted” but is known to shoot his mouth off so don’t be surprised if neither of these names end up with the job.
Bryan Singer has evidently expressed interest to New Line about filming his modern re-imagining of the Jack And The Beanstalk tale, “Jack The Giant Killer,” filmed in 3-D. He was apparently inspired by “Avatar,” but we’re not convinced. The film will center on a war between giants and humans set off by the kidnapping of a princess, and the young farmer who sets off to the giant kingdom on a rescue mission.
In what sounds like someone taking the piss, Mark Wahlberg is reportedly developing a sequel to 2005 film “Four Brothers” with the writers David Elliot and Paul Lovett. It’s not known what the sequel will be about, but will presumably follow the original which saw four adopted brothers – played by Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Garrett Hedlund and Andre Benjamin – unite to avenge the murder of their mother. And the proposed title of this project? That’s right, “Five Brothers.”
The producers of the new “Conan The Barbarian” remake has revealed that their search for the titular character has come down to three actors. While one remains unknown, the other two are the “Twilight” franchise’s Kellan Lutz and relatively unknown Jason Momoa of “Stargate Atlantic” fame. Anyone even care?
The guys behind the likes of “Crank” and “Gamer,” Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine, have put into development a new project called “Cash Money Dollars.” It will follow an unlikely trio — a shady LA private dick, a kick-ass NY female Secret Service agent, and an African-American Texas Ranger — who team up to stop a new wave of terrorist operations and save America. Why are these guys still making movies? Because the producer of such films like ‘Transformers” and “G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra,” Lorenzo di Bonaventura, is now backing them. Talk about a “new wave of terrorist operations.”
A new extended, trailer for Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland” has been released with new footage showing the film’s realistic introduction as well as an introduction from Alice herself, Mia Wasikowska, sporting the short hair she’ll wear in Gus Van Sant’s “Restless.”
