'Sopranos' Creator Working On Rock 'N' Roll Feature

David Chase, the creator of the Emmy-hording series, “The Sopranos” signed a deal with Paramount last year which allowed him the freedom to write, direct and produce a feature film. According to Chase, he is taking the opportunity to get away from the mafia tag that has plagued him since “The Sopranos” became a cultural phenomenon and will instead focus the film on his love of music, “It is about rock ‘n’ roll,” he said to EW, “But that is about all I am comfortable saying at this point.”

News of a music-centric Chase film isn’t surprising, since he did all he could to integrate his encyclopedic knowledge of music (including 70’s and 80’s era rock) into every “Sopranos” episodes and has made no attempt to hide the fact that he has an affinity for the likes of the “The Rolling Stones” and Elvis Costello. But don’t expect to see this feature anytime soon, as Chase is a meticulous writer and stated that, “It is in the early stages, I am just writing.”

Color us interested, but this news doesn’t exactly make it sound like there will be a “Sopranos” film coming our way anytime soon.
