'Bad Boys For Life' Directors & More To Helm Episodes Of The 'Ms. Marvel' Series On Disney+

Even though 2020 seems to be very light on MCU products thanks to the pandemic (sorry, but “Agents of SHIELD doesn’t count because Kevin Feige clearly doesn’t think it does), Marvel Studios has quite a few things in development, with news coming relatively quickly over the past week regarding the various Disney+ series. Just recently, we learned that Tatiana Maslany is going to hulk out as the star of “She-Hulk” and we learned that Kat Coiro is going to direct the series. Now, the development of “Ms. Marvel” seems to be moving along with the announcement of what directors might show up to work on that superhero series.

According to THR, filmmakers Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a two-time Oscar winner in the documentary short category, Meera Menon (The Walking Dead,” “The Punisher,” “Titans, “Outlander“) and the directing duo of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (“Bad Boys For Life“) have been signed on to direct multiple episodes of the forthcoming “Ms. Marvel” TV series. It’s previously been reported that Bisha K. Ali would serve as the writer and showrunner for the series about the newest teenage superhero in the MCU. For those not familiar, “Ms. Marvel” is based on the comic book character of the same name and will feature a 15-year-old Muslim-American named Kamala Khan that develops strange powers and is inspired by Captain Marvel to don a costume and fight crime in her native New Jersey.

Arbi and Fallah are probably best known for helming “Bad Boys for Life,” which still holds the crown as the top-grossing film in 2020, thanks in no small part to the pandemic shutting down the industry for half of the year. No matter the box office, “Bad Boys for Life” was a hit with film fans and demonstrated the dynamic skills of Arbi and Fallah. They also previously helmed multiple episodes of the series “Snowfall” and are set to direct the forthcoming “Beverly Hills Cop 4.” Obaid-Chinoy is an award-winning documentarian who won an Oscar for 2015’s “A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness,” and 2012’s “Saving Face.”

It’s unclear when “Ms. Marvel” will go into production. Marvel Studios has yet to even announce a leading actress for the title role. However, these things tend to happen quickly and with the film and TV industry beginning to restart productions after the long pandemic pause, we could be seeing quite a bit of Marvel Studios content over the next couple of years.
