One of the more anticipated films this fall is “After the Hunt,” a drama that combines director Luca Guadagnino with star talents Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and “The Bear” up-and-comer Ayo Edebiri. Guadagnino has been on a hot streak as of late. Last year’s tennis drama “Challengers,” starring Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor, was a box office hit, grossing nearly $100 million worldwide. And his William S. Burroughs adaptation “Queer” was met with critical praise, especially for lead Daniel Craig’s performance as an American expat in 1950s Mexico City who finds a meaningful connection with a young soldier. The film garnered Golden Globe, Venice Film and SAG nominations among others, and its snubbing at the Oscars ruffled some feathers this past awards season.
Regardless, Guadagnino is not slowing down anytime soon, and he’ll be directing an “American Psycho” remake with Austin Butler as well as an adaptation of the novel “Aryan Papers,” which, up to this point, is most notably known as one of legendary auteur Stanley Kubrick’s unfinished projects before his death. There will be plenty of opportunities for Guadagnino to snag one of those elusive Oscar prizes in the near future.
“After The Hunt” stars Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, Chloë Sevigny, Lío Mehiel, Ariyan Kassam, Will Price, Thaddea Graham, Christine Dye, and Burgess Byrd. Guadagnino directs while Nora Garrett penned the script. Jeb Brody, Brian Grazer, Guadagnino, Allan Mandelbaum, and Christopher Surgent are producers. Alice Dawson, Garrett, Karen Lunder, and Justin Wilkes.
“After the Hunt” follows a college professor (Roberts) who’s forced to grapple with a dark past after her colleague (Garfield) faces a serious accusation from a star student (Edebiri).
