'Agents Of SHIELD' Final Season Trailer: The Marvel Series Goes Back In Time For Its Own Endgame

Let me know if you’ve heard this story before in a Marvel project—a group of heroes travels back in time to save their future from aliens. Nope, we’re not talking about “Avengers: Endgame,” which definitely fits that description. Instead, it’s Season 7, the final season, in fact, of “Agents of SHIELD.”

As seen in the first trailer for the final season of ‘SHIELD,’ our favorite heroes (or at least the ones that aren’t being used by Kevin Feige in the MCU) are tasked with traveling back to 1931 to fight some invading aliens that threaten to alter the entire future of the human race.

While the series definitely still has its fans, with many saying that the later seasons are some of the best, it’s difficult to look at ‘SHIELD’ as anything other than the biggest failure of the Marvel TV brand. Sure, “failure” might be a strong word, but the show debuted after the release of “The Avengers” and was never able to capitalize on the popularity of that film or the subsequent films in any real way. In fact, while ‘SHIELD’ takes place in the MCU, as the seasons have gone on, the show has diverged more and more from the stories being told in the feature films, thanks to Kevin Feige clearly not having any interest in the work being done by his Marvel TV colleagues.

And now that Feige controls all of Marvel TV, ‘SHIELD’ joins the Netflix Defenders” series and the shows on Hulu and Freeform in the graveyard. Season 7 of “Agents of SHIELD” is comprised of 13 new episodes and premieres on ABC on May 27. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

In the seventh and final season of the Marvel hit, Coulson and the Agents of SHIELD are thrust backward in time and stranded in 1931 New York City. With the all-new Zephyr set to time-jump at any moment, the team must hurry to find out exactly what happened. If they fail, it would mean disaster for the past, present and future of the world.
