Kormakur will serve as producer along with Jamie Primak-Sullivan (“Jersey Belle”), Will Packer (“Ride Along”), and James Lopez (“Night School”). “Beast” was based on the idea by Jamie Primak-Sullivan, with “Rampage” writer, Ryan Engle, taking the script.

Here’s the official synopsis:

A recently widowed man and his two teenage daughters travel to a game reserve in South Africa. However, their journey of healing soon turns into a fight for survival when a bloodthirsty lion starts to stalk them.

Idris Elba is set to lead the film, after his recent success in the kid-friendly movie “Sonic The Hedgehog 2” (2022). Idris played Knuckles the Echidna so it will be exciting to see him in a more thrilling setting.

Elba is known for his work on projects like James Gunn’s “Suicide Squad” (2021) and the British TV series, “Luther.” Besides Elba, “Beast” is set to star Sharlto Copley (“District 9”), Iyana Halley, and Leah Sava Jeffries.

“Beast” also co-stars Riley Keough, Melanie Jarson, Damon Burtley, Amara Miller, Robby Masclsaac, and Billy Gallagher. The film will be released in movie theaters on August 19, 2022. Watch the first trailer below.
