Billie Eilish, Beyonce, Land On Oscars Best Original Song 2022 Shortlist

There are 15 songs still in the mix for the 2022 Best Original Song Oscar after the announcement of the shortlist today. Tracks co-written by The Sparks Brothers, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Carol King, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Billie Eilish made the cut. Five songs will be announced as the final nominees on Tuesday, February 8.

Billie Eilish and Finneas are on track to become the first Oscar-nominated Original Song contender to have already won the equivalent Grammy Award. Because the film was originally scheduled to release in early 2020, “No Time To Die” took the Grammy for  Best Song Written For Visual Media this past March at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Other notable songwriters to make the shortlist include Van Morrison, U2, Brian Wilson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Pasek & Paul, and last year’s Oscar winner in this category, H.E.R.

Additionally, 15 Original Scores were also shortlisted. They include scores by familiar composers such as Nicolas Britell, Alexandre Desplat, Hans Zimmer, Jonny Greenwood, Alberto Iglesias, Carter Burwell, and Germaine Franco.
