'Brain On Fire' Trailer: Medical Drama Based On Best-Selling Memoir Is Finally Being Released By Netflix

It feels like forever ago since we saw “Brain on Fire” at the Toronto International Film Festival. In fact, the film premiered back in 2016 at the festival. So now, almost two years later, Netflix is about to release the film, and they finally released a trailer.

In typical Netflix fashion, their first trailer for the film comes out just a little over a week before it hits the streaming service. “Brain on Fire” tells the true story of a young woman who seemingly has everything she could hope for. That is, until an unknown illness hits and she’s suddenly the subject of a million tests and psychological evaluations. The film is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name.

“Brain on Fire” stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Jenny Slate, Thomas Mann, Tyler Perry, and Carrie-Anne Moss. “Brain on Fire” is directed by Gerard Barrett, who is best known for his previous films “Pilgrim Hill” and “Glassland.”

As mentioned above, Netflix has the reputation of releasing their trailers right before they release the finished product. So, the wait to watch “Brain on Fire” is almost over, as it hits the streaming service on June 22.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Susannah Cahalan, an up-and-coming journalist at the New York Post becomes plagued by voices in her head and seizures. As weeks progress and Susannah quickly moves deeper into insanity, her behaviors shift from violence to catatonia. After a series of tantrums, misdiagnoses, and a lengthy hospital stay, a doctor’s last-minute intervention enables him to give her a diagnosis and a chance to rebuild her life.
