'Bullet Train' Trailer: Brad Pitt Leads An Ensemble Cast On An Assassin-Filled Train Ride

The Shinkansen, or as it’s known in English, the Japanese bullet train, is a high-speed railway that connects every region of Japan to its capital, Tokyo. It’s one of the busiest railway lines in the world, and there’s never been a single derailment or collision in its history. But what would happen if a bunch of assassins got on board, each with an assignment to carry out?

That’s the premise of “Bullet Train,” set to hit theaters next April. Based on the 2010 novel “Maria Beetle” by Japanese mystery novelist Kōtarō Isaka, the film gives the Shinkansen’s colloquial name a whole new meaning.  Brad Pitt leads a loaded ensemble cast as one of many assassins aboard the railway system, who eventually realize their respective hits are somehow related.

Alongside Bitt, “Bullet Train” stars Joey King, Andrew Koji, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Sandra Bullock, and Brian Tyree Henry. But that’s not all: Zazie Beetz, Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman, Masi Oka, Hiroyuki Sanada, Karen Fukuhara, Miraj Grbic, Pasha D. Lychnikoff also star. Puerto Rican Rapper Bad Bunny is also on board.

David Leitch, coming off of 2019’s “Hobbs & Shaw,”  directs “Bullet Train” from a screenplay by Zak Olkewicz, best known for his work “Fear Street: Part Two: 1978.” Leitch’s longtime cinematographer Jonathan Sela joins him for the ride.  Dominic Lewis provides the film’s score.
