Burrow And The Van Make Live Action And Animated Short Film Shortlists

Filmmakers will find a way. Pandemic, war, economic collapse? They’ll find a way. That’s why it’s no surprise that the Animated Short Film and Live Action Short Film Oscar categories considered 96 and 174 individual submissions respectively this year. Unfortunately, only 10 make the shortlist cut for each category.

As always, there are a few Pixar films in the mix (“Burrow” and “Out”) and it should be noted that the members of the Short Films and Feature Animation Branch vote to determine both the shortlist and the nominees.

The Live Action Short Film that are still in the race include:

“Feeling Through”
“The Human Voice”
“The Kicksled Choir”
“The Letter Room”
“The Present”
“Two Distant Strangers”
“The Van”
“White Eye” 

The Animated Short Films still in contention include:

“Burrow”
“Genius Loci”
“If Anything Happens I Love You”
“Kapaemahu”
“Opera”
“Out”
“The Snail and the Whale”
“To Gerard”
“Traces”
“Yes-People”

Nominations voting begins on Friday, March 5, 2021, and concludes on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

Nominations for the 93rd Academy Awards will be announced on Monday, March 15, 2021.
