Chris Evans To Star In Ruben Fleischer's Big Screen Remake Of Steven Moffat’s TV Series ‘Jekyll’

It looks like we now know which movie Chris Evans is going to squeeze in between Captain America appearances. Deadline is reporting that Evans is set to star in the upcoming Lionsgate thriller “Jekyll.” He was rumored earlier this year to be circling the project, but it looks like now it’s official.

Despite what you may be thinking, “Jekyll” is not a simple retelling of the classic “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” story. The film is actually a reboot of the 2007 BBC series that acts as a sequel to the classic tale as it follows Jackman, played by Evans, a descendant of the classic Dr. Jekyll character. Things are going fine until Jackman starts to develop that pesky split personality problem. Abandoning his family, he teams with a nurse to help control his mental issue. Things get intense when the not-so-nice side, Hyde, learns of Jackman’s family life.

Also attached to the film is “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer. After directing the cult film, Fleischer has gone on to direct “Gangster Squad” and a variety of TV episodes. While many fans had hoped he would return for “Zombieland 2,” that project seems to be stuck in the dreaded development hell.

No release date has been set, but reports say there’s no rush on production as they have to plan for Evans’ busy superhero schedule.
