Chris Pratt Confirms 'Guardians 3' Will Use James Gunn's Script & Says It's "Off The Chain"

Though it would appear, based on recent comments from other filmmakers, that Marvel Studios may have trouble landing a big name director to take over “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” after James Gunn’s departure, the studio is moving ahead with the film nonetheless. In fact, the studio is still using the original script and it’s really good, according to star Chris Pratt.

In a new interview with MTV, Pratt was asked if Marvel Studios is still using Gunn’s script for the third film (he was dismissed after the script had already been turned in) and what it will be like to do the third film in the franchise without the mastermind behind it all.

“Yeah, I have. It’s off the chain. It’s so good,” said Pratt when asked if he’s read the new script for the film.

He was then asked what it would be like to do the film without Gunn. Pratt explained, “Well, I love James. I’m loyal to James and I love him so much. And we’re going to deliver the movie and we’re going to give fans the movie they deserve. And I think it’s in the nature of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ to come together and get the job done. And that’s what we’ll do.”

As alluded to earlier, Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige are seemingly on the hunt to find a director to finish out the ‘Guardians’ trilogy. However, the big names, including Adam McKay, Taika Waititi, Edgar Wright, and Chris Miller, among others, have all voiced the opinion that James Gunn should be the one to do it and that they would not step in his shoes.

At this point, it’ll be interesting to see who the studio gets to take over the role, especially considering much of the James Gunn signature touch will be all over the film, courtesy of his script. Also, at this point, the film was scheduled to be entering into production, but has been delayed. So, we’ll have to wait and see just when Marvel expects to have the third ‘Guardians’ film ready to go.
