Juliette Binoche Says Harvey Weinstein Has "Had Enough" & Says It's Time For Justice "To Do Its Work"

As far as bombshell revelations are concerned, it would appear that most of the Harvey Weinstein baggage is already in the public to dissect. However, with the former producer now dealing with sexual assault charges, among other legal issues, there’s a very real chance that Weinstein could be seeing some jail time for his alleged crimes. And according to Oscar-winning actress Juliette Binoche, it’s time to give the hatred and rest and let justice do its thing.

Speaking at a news conference, in anticipation of the upcoming Berlin Film Festival, Binoche was asked her thoughts about Weinstein. The actress has worked with the disgraced producer on multiple occasions and offered up her take on the whole situation.

“I almost want to say peace to his mind and heart, that’s all,” Binoche said (via Variety). “I’m trying to put my feet in his shoes. He’s had enough, I think. A lot of people have expressed themselves. Now justice has to do its work.”

She continued, “I never had problems with him, but I could see that he had problems. As a producer, he was wonderful, most of the time. I think he was a great producer. That we shouldn’t forget, even though it’s been difficult for some directors and actors and especially actresses. I just want to say peace to his mind and let justice do what it needs to do.”

Many will argue that Binoche’s assertion that he was “difficult” with people is a bit reductive, considering the severity of his alleged crimes. However, it would appear that the actress is trying to take the high road and have a more nuanced view of the situation. Of course, it could also seem, to some people, that she’s perhaps even defending him, just a little bit.

Either way, she’s right about one thing – justice will do what it needs to do. Hopefully.
