'The Comey Rule' Trailer: Trump's Corruption Gets The Spotlight In Billy Ray's Upcoming Showtime Series

The political biopic is a time-honored tradition in Hollywood. However, normally, those stories are told well after the person has left office or even passed away. In the case of President Donald Trump, he has yet to finish his first term (and possibly last) as the Commander-in-Chief and Showtime is already releasing a limited series that sheds light on the corruption that got him the job in the first place.

As seen in the first trailer for “The Comey Rule,” Brendan Gleeson stars as Trump opposite Jeff Daniels as James Comey, the former FBI Director that discovers potential links between the incoming President and the Russian government. This is clearly a story that has been in the news over the years and has made headlines all around the world. And judging by the trailer, writer-director Billy Ray isn’t afraid to possibly ruffle the feathers of Trump.

Ray is an Oscar-nominated writer probably best known for his work on the film “Captain Phillips.” He’s also written numerous features, including “Gemini Man,” “Shattered Glass,” “The Hunger Games,” “Overlord,” and “Richard Jewell.”

Joining Gleeson and Daniels in the all-star cast for “The Comey Rule” are Holly Hunter, Michael Kelly, Jennifer Ehle, Scoot McNairy, Jonathan Banks, Oona Chaplin, Amy Seimetz, Steven Pasquale, Peter Coyote, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

“The Comey Rule” arrives as a two-night event on Showtime on September 27 and 28.

Here’s the synopsis:

Jeff Daniels and Brendan Gleeson star as former FBI Director James Comey and President Donald J. Trump in this two-part event series that tells the story of two powerful men, whose strikingly different ethics and loyalties put them on a collision course.
