'Consecration' Trailer: Jena Malone Is Surrounded By Creepy Nuns In Christopher Smith's New Horror Film

Yes, yes, yes, nuns are supposed to be viewed as kind, gentle souls who have all devoted their lives to their higher power. But let’s be real—nuns can also be really fucking creepy. And that’s exactly the case in the new film, “Consecration.”

As seen in the trailer for “Consecration,” the film follows the story of a young woman who ventures to Scotland to investigate the strange, sudden death of her brother, a priest. While there, she becomes embedded with the nuns of the area, and she begins to wonder what really is going on, as all sorts of creepy things start happening. Nuns saying “peek-a-boo” has never sounded worse. As you might imagine, from the fact this is distributed by IFC Midnight and Shudder, “Consecration” is a horror film, through and through, so you should definitely expect some terrifying religious stuff throughout the film. 

The film stars Jena Malone and Danny Huston. “Consecration” is directed by Christopher Smith. The filmmaker is probably best known for his work on films such as “Severance,” “Black Death,” and “Detour.” His most recent feature is the 2020 film, “The Banishing.”

“Consecration” arrives in theaters on February 10. You can watch the trailer below.

In CONSECRATION, after the suspicious death of her brother, a priest, Grace (Jena Malone) goes to the Mount Saviour Convent in Scotland to find out what really happened.  Once there, she uncovers murder, sacrilege and a disturbing truth about her own past.
