David Harbour Calls ‘Black Widow’/’Stranger Things’ Connection An “Annoying Coincidence” & Not A “Crossover Event”

Ready for some earth-shattering news? Not everything you read on the internet is true. I know, I know, this is crazy talk, but hear me out. Sometimes, sometimes, the conspiracy theories you read online are just completely fabricated and have no truth. While that’s just a good thing to remember as you scroll through social media, it especially holds true to the recent fan theories that the new season of “Stranger Things” is somehow connected to the upcoming “Black Widow.”

This whole issue started being discussed when it was revealed that David Harbour (who stars in both “Stranger Things” and “Black Widow”) is seen in Russia in the upcoming season of the Netflix series. And considering that show takes place in the past, it could be somehow linked to the more recent story shown in “Black Widow,” where Harbour plays a Russian Captain America-esque character. But according to an interview with EW, that’s just fantasy, as the two are most definitely not connected.

“I know, it is a very surprising, annoying coincidence, and I apologize to the entire internet,” Harbour said. “There is no rhyme or reason for it, I promise you. There’s no crossover event between ‘Stranger Things’ and the MCU.”

He added, “I mean, I do look very different in them. One of them, I’m 270 pounds and got a beard and thick, long hair, and the other one I’m like 200 pounds and have no hair.”

So, there you have it, internet. Your wild theories of some grand connection between “Stranger Things” and the MCU are wrong. Apparently, it just so happens that Harbour is the go-to actor for franchises looking to expand to Russia. It’s good work, if you can get it, I guess.

Also, as a coincidence, the release dates for both “Stranger Things” and “Black Widow” are up in the air, as the former is still undated and the latter might be delayed due to coronavirus. But again, there’s no connection. Just a damn global pandemic ruining our scheduling.
