Donald Trump's Cameo In 'Home Alone 2' Was Edited Out Of A Recent Canadian Broadcast

Sure, he was a major TV star before he turned into the President of the United States, but no one would ever say that Donald Trump is film force. In fact, if you think of Trump’s appearances in films (IMDB says he’s been in over a dozen), you’re likely only remembering one appearance — a cameo in the Christmas film “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.” Well, if you watched the film recently in Canada, odds are you missed Trump’s appearance in the film.

According to a report from Comicbook.com, Canadian broadcaster CBC recently showed an edited version of “Home Alone 2.” While TV edits are hardly news, it appears that one of the more conspicuous edits is the fact that Donald Trump’s cameo has been excised from the presentation. It would appear that CBC decided to make “Home Alone 2” a bit less politically charged in today’s climate.

When asked for a statement, the network simply replied, “As is often the case with features adapted for television, ‘Home Alone 2’ was edited to allow for commercial time within the format.”

Sure, okay. Probably has nothing to do with the fact that Trump is the most polarizing figure to ever step foot in the White House and on the political stage, at large. Not complaining, of course, but the network might have gained a few more fans if it was a bit more transparent.

Obviously, losing the Donald Trump cameo in “Home Alone 2” doesn’t really affect the plot or characters at all. However, this isn’t the first time “Home Alone 2” and Trump was brought up recently. In fact, the President himself, as he is wont to do, mentioned his cameo in the film while speaking with troops (via Deadline) and might have been a bit, uh, hyperbolic when describing the film.

“And it turned out to be a very big hit, obviously. It’s a big Christmas hit – one of the biggest. So it’s an honor to be involved in something like that, you always like to see success,” Trump stated.

Sure, the film was a pretty massive financial hit when it was released decades ago, but it’s hard to take anything Trump says seriously when he is constantly overusing terms such as “very big” in every other sentence out of his mouth.

Either way, if you want to watch Trump’s cameo, you’re going to need to watch ‘Home Alone 2’ on another platform than CBC in Canada.
