Drama Series Emmys 2023 Predictions And Contenders

This Emmy season is going to be a very fruitful one for HBO. In Drama Series alone, the prestige player has four potential nominees: “The Last of Us,” “Succession,” “House of the Dragon,” and “The White Lotus.” And, you can argue that “Succession” or “The White Lotus” have the best chance of winning out of whoever fills the rest of the eight nominee slots. And if it’s not those two popular players, it might just be “The Last of Us.” Again, HBO is going to have a very, very good year.

Looking to join the nomination fray is Disney+’s “Andor” (a PGA Award nominee and second only to “Severance” on TV critics’ 2022 top 10 lists), the final season of “Better Call Saul” (a six-time nominee in this category), Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” (a winner in 2017, a four-time nominee), Disney+’s “The Mandalorian” (a two-time nominee), Netflix’s disappointing fifth season of “The Crown” (your 2021 winner and another four-time nominee), Showtime’s buzzworthy “Yellowjackets” (a 2022 nominee), and the continually snubbed Paramount blockbuster, “Yellowstone.” Prime Video’s fantasy hit “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is hoping to crash the party but was disappointingly overlooked by many of the year-end guild honors over the past few months. Of course, surprise nominees such as “The Boys,” “1923,” “Bad Sisters, and “The Old Man” could make their way into the mix as well.
