It was a roll of the dice to be sure, but it mostly turned out well for Lionsgate, who kicked off Comic-Con last week by screening "Dredd" for enthusiastic geeks. And while we thought the film was mostly empty spectacle, many other folks disagreed, with much of the initial wariness of the film lifting as a result of the screening (though perhaps replaced after that ridiculous slow motion clip landed online).
Anyway, we get a further peek into the future as a batch of new pics from the film have landed online. As you know, the plot for this one is relatively straight-forward. With the drug slinging Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) ruling her operation from the apartment block Peach Trees, Dredd (Karl Urban) and his trainee sidekick Cassandra (Olivia Thirlby) kick down the doors, and work their way through the complex in order to bring her down, killing everything in their path without hesitation. And as we mentioned in our review, it's this "glib amorality with which it depicts the (in)significance of human life" that's a bit troubling about the movie. But for people who want to see things get exploded, it probably won't bother them.
"Dredd" opens on September 21st in 3D. Pics below. [JoBlo]
