'Faith' Trailer: South Korean Director Na Hong-jin Showcases The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's New Capabilities In His Gloomy, Fight-Heavy Short

For those who love South Korean cinema, Na Hong-jin‘s “The Wailing” was a special treat when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016: a rural police procedural with a touch of the macabre and supernatural. But that was almost seven years ago, so what has Na been up to lately? Well, the director has a new short called “Faith” he shot on the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, ready for its release after a press screening late last month.

“Faith” lasts only just over 10 minutes but packs a lot of action into that runtime. The short follows a man who faces off against villains to collect a key from their boss, but also has to reckon with others who have their eye on the coveted prize. Na’s short emphasizes the S23 Ultra’s various enhanced camera functions, such as its ability to gather more lighting in darker environments and its autofocus feature. So when “Faith” releases to audiences, expect gloomy fight sequences with lots of heavy weapons crisp in detail.

Na showed off “Faith” at its world premiere on February 23 at Megabox COEX in Seoul, South Korea. And Na’s film wasn’t the only short shot on an S23 Ultra shown at the event. The other was Ridley Scott‘s “Behold,” a four-minute short. Both films mean to showcase the S23 Ultra’s capabilities at launch, similar to what Charlie Kaufman‘s short from last year, “Jackals & Fireflies,” did for the S22 Ultra.

Check out a trailer for “Faith” below and a behind-the-scenes look at the short that features an interview with Na Hong-jin. Scott’s “Behold” is down there, too. No word on when “Faith” gets its release, but expect it to be available soon now that the S23 Ultra is available to customers.
