'Father Of The Year' Trailer: Netflix Comedy Answers The Question Of Whose Father Would Win In A Fight

When you were 5 years old and goofing off with your friends on the playground, without a doubt, one of the conversations you had was whose father would win in a fight. Naturally, you rooted for your own dad, thinking he was some invincible superhero. Well, Adam Sandler and Netflix thought that was a great premise for a film, and is poised to release “Father of the Year.”

As we described above, the premise for this latest product of the Happy Madison/Netflix relationship is pretty clear – two college graduates are betting on which one’s father would kick the shit out of the other. But instead of normal dads, “Father of the Year” features Nat Faxon as a scared, dorky dad and David Spade doing his best not-Joe Dirt impression as the trailer park-living, long-haired drunk dad.

And before you write this off as a garbage Netflix/Adam Sandler comedy that it probably is, I’ll have you know that I laughed out loud once during this trailer. So, either I’m experiencing the signs of early onset dementia or there’s potential for this film to have a couple chuckles. You be the judge. Yeah, I’ll make the call to my doctor now.

However, even though Adam Sandler’s production company is all over this film, there’s no Sandler present in the trailer. And outside of David Spade, the cast that is shown doesn’t feature any of the normal Adam Sandler friends.

For those that are interested, “Father of the Year” is about a month late for Father’s Day and will hit Netflix on July 20.

Here’s the official synopsis:

When a drunken debate between two recent college graduates about whose father would win in a fight is taken seriously by their idiot dads, jobs are lost, relationships ruined, futures destroyed, and best friends come of age as they come to grips with who their fathers really are. Starring David Spade, Nat Faxon, Joey Bragg, Matt Shively, and Bridgit Mendler.
