First Look At Jeremy Renner As Aaron Cross In 'The Bourne Legacy'

blankWe were excited when Jeremy Renner landed a role in "Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol" because we figured it would be his first big, prime tentpole that would let him show off both his acting chops and action adventure skills. Well, that's only half true. We should have realized that the 'Mission' movies are the Tom Cruise Show, and especially in 'Ghost Protocol,' the supporting cast spends most of the movie listening to Ethan Hunt. Renner doesn't say or do much. But, he'll get another swing at the piñata in "The Bourne Legacy."

USA Today has dropped the first look at Renner as Aaron Cross (an alias, of course) in the franchise spinoff. Also featuring the returning faces Joan Allen and Albert Finney, Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz, with Edward Norton and Oscar Isaac as the villains, the Tony Gilroy written and directed film will take place in the wake of the collapse of black-ops program Treadstone, as a new, more dangerous department emerges. All in all, it sounds very promising, but it appears Renner has taken his ass-kicking skills off camera as well.

Currently in Thailand where the film is still shooting, reports surfaced today that Renner was involved in a six man brawl at a bar early this morning that left one man wounded and in hospital from knife wounds. Renner walked away unharmed. You can check out the report below and catch "The Bourne Legacy" in theaters on August 3rd.
