The Internet movie blogosphere hit a pretty embarrassing low a few weeks back when a terribly scanned black-and-white "first look" image of James Franco in "Oz: The Great And Powerful" started making the rounds. It was, at best, equivalent to the quality of a shaky cell phone pic, but it seems everyone is really jazzed for this movie. Either that, or it was a slow news day. Anyway, Disney has gone ahead a dropped the first official poster for the movie, but sorry folks, no Franco here.
Directed by Sam Raimi, and marking his first film since 2009's "Drag Me To Hell," the re-telling of the familiar story follows small-time magician Oscar Diggs (Franco) who pulls one flimflam too many and finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great and powerful Wizard – and just maybe into a better man as well. This movie actually shot last year, and given that it's not arriving until next spring, we're expecting a pretty big special effects display at the multiplex.
Co-starring Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Zach Braff, "Oz: The Great and Powerful" arrives on March 8, 2013. Full poster below.
