'A Good Person': Florence Pugh & Morgan Freeman To Star In Zach Braff's Next Directorial Outing

For an actor-turned-director, you can’t have a much better debut behind the camera than Zach Braff enjoyed with his 2004 film “Garden State.” Many people loved that film and lauded its writing (and soundtrack). But Braff has yet to fully capitalize on that popularity with his follow-up features, as both 2014’s “Wish I Was Here” and 2017’s “Going in Style” didn’t necessarily light up the box office or earn rave reviews. Well, for his next film, “A Good Person,” Braff has nabbed two incredible leads that are likely going to bring a lot of attention to his fourth directorial feature.

According to Deadline, Zach Braff is set to write and direct the upcoming drama, “A Good Person.” And he’s already found the two leads that will star in the feature, with both Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman signing on. The film is said to follow a woman (Pugh) that is reeling from the trauma of being involved in a deadly accident. She then develops a relationship with her would-be father-in-law (Freeman), who helps her move on and live a fulfilling life.

Freeman previously worked with Braff on the aforementioned comedy film, “Going in Style.” So, it isn’t a huge surprise that they two would collaborate again. The new film marks the first feature for Pugh and Braff, however. That said, it also isn’t much of a shock as the two have been romantically involved for a while now, and Braff would be bananas not to use one of the best actresses working today if given the opportunity.

In addition to his film work, Braff has also recently directed some episodes of TV shows including “Alex Inc.” and the Golden Globe-winning Apple TV+ series, “Ted Lasso.” “A Good Person” is going to be presented to possible distributors at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, so it is far too early to know when the film might be released.
