Oscar winner Forest Whitaker isn’t usually a franchise guy (though he did recently appear in "Taken 3"), but it looks like the actor is ready to go the whole way, lining up a role in a revived property, and another in the biggest one of all.
Variety reports that the actor has joined "Star Wars: Rogue One" and the reboot of "The Crow." For the former, Whitaker joins Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn in the Gareth Edwards directed movie about a rebel plot to steal the plans for the Death Star. This spinoff will apparently be dark and gritty, but there’s no word on Whitaker’s actual part just yet. And the same goes for "The Crow," which stars Jack Huston as the goth comic book hero. Either way, Whitaker will soon experience what it’s like to be on the receiving end of fannish expectation.
Both movies will arrive in cinemas in 2016.
