The advent of the Oscars shortlists now reveals shocking snubs weeks before nomination day. One that may go slightly under the radar to the general public, until they watch the ceremony in March, is that “Weapons” has been snubbed in Makeup and Hairstyling. And, no, we don’t get it either
As expected, “Frankenstein,” “Sinners,” “Wicked for Good,” and “The Smashing Machine” made the list. Less expected were the inclusion of “The Alto Knights,” “Nuremberg,” Kokuho,” “The Ugly Stepsister,” “Marty Supreme,” and “One Battle After Another.”
Other overlooked contenders include “Blue Moon,” “28 Years Later,” “Hamnet,” “Bugonia,” “Superman,” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”
Before final nomination voting, Academy members will be invited to view excerpts and interviews with the artists from each of the shortlisted films on Saturday, January 10.
