‘Funny Face’ Exclusive First Poster Art: Tim Sutton’s Tale Of Vengeance Heads To Berlin

We have written before about how much we admire Tim Sutton. Not only did we love “Donnybrook,” but we’ve been eagerly anticipating his next feature film, “Funny Face,” which is set to have its world premiere as part of the Berlin Film Festival tomorrow. In honor of its premiere, we’re thrilled to offer readers an exclusive look at the first poster art for “Funny Face.”

The poster art is just the right amount of enigmatic and disturbing, teasing the darkness and violence that the main character in “Funny Face” harvests, and also the calmer, more tender side of Sutton’s latest feature. The film deals with a young guy named Saul who is desperately looking to take vengeance against a real estate developer that wants to destroy the home of Saul’s grandparents. Saul then decides to take up a persona to enact his revenge, but a meeting with a woman named Zama makes him question his thirst for vengeance. Sutton described “Funny Face” as “an origin story, a love story, and a punk ode to a changing city all in one and I’m thrilled for Fabien and his team to introduce it to an international audience,” in a press release.

The film stars Cosmo Jarvis, Dela Meskienyar, Jonny Lee Miller, and Victor Garber. The film is written and directed by Tim Sutton, who previously gave us “Donnybrook” and “Dark Night.”

Here is the film’s synopsis:

When a power-hungry real estate developer decides to destroy Saul’s (Cosmo Jarvis) grandparents’ home to make way for a parking lot, Saul is left desperate and angry, impotent in a world beyond his control. Young, reckless, and alone, he takes on the persona of the Funny Face mask to take revenge. But then he meets the rebellious Zama (Dela Meskienyar), and as their friendship blossoms on the streets of Brooklyn, he must make a tough choice: follow through on his thirst for vengeance or maintain his innocence in a world of harsh realities.
