'Green Lantern': Jeremy Irvine To Play Alan Scott In HBO Max Superhero Series

While we’re likely going to have to wait a little longer before Warner Bros. gives us their “Green Lantern Corps.” movie, however, there is a “Green Lantern” series in the works at HBO Max that will cover a bulk of the other human heroes that joined the group of cosmic cops. The show is said to be more mature compared to other live-action shows based on the DC Comics characters, with Finn Wittrock already set to play hot-head Guy Gardner

Another actor is about to join “Green Lantern,” as Jeremy Irvine from “War Horse,” and “Treadstone” is in final talks to play the golden age era Lantern, Alan Scott, said to be a secretly gay FBI agent in the HBO Max project, according to Deadline. This backs up an earlier report from The Iluminerdi that first mentioned the British actor was in the mix to play Scott.

The Green Lanterns are group of candidates from all over the universe that are selected to become the protectors of certain sectors, almost like cosmic cops walking their beats, but in space. Their power rings are where their abilities mostly come from but have to be recharged with, you guessed it, a green lantern. Most of the Lanterns that will be on the show are human, with roles such as Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz still seemingly up-for-grabs alongside alien characters such as Sinestro and Kilowog.

HBO Max’s “Green Lantern” comes from writers Seth Grahame-Smith, who will serve as showrunner (he also was attached to “The Flash” movie at one point), Marc Guggenheim (who wrote on the 2011 Ryan Reynolds version of “Green Lantern”), and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden

The series is part of a new wave of DC series, including one from ‘The Batman” director Matt Reeves that will follow the cops of the Gotham Police Department and another produced by J.J. Abrams that will focus on the superhero horror team “Justice League Dark.”
