Henry Cavill Would Still "Love" To Play The Next James Bond, Says "It Would Be Very, Very Exciting"

While we still wait for “No Time To Die” to finally hit theaters or do like every other movie and leave, the question of who will take over the mantle of 007 after Daniel Craig retires as the character continues. While we haven’t heard anything official yet, there is at least one actor who once tried to play the character, and is still game to drink a bunch of martinis on screen: Henry Cavill.

In a new interview with GQ magazine, Cavill said he is still interested in the gig. “If Barbara [Bond producer Barbara Broccoli] and Mike [co-producer Michael G. Wilson] were interested in that, I would absolutely jump at the opportunity.”

“At this stage, it’s all up in the air. We’ll see what happens,” Cavill adds. “But yes, I would love to play Bond, it would be very, very exciting.”

Before Daniel Craig donned the suit and drank the martini, a 22-year-old Henry Cavill auditioned to play 007 in “Casino Royale,” but — obviously — didn’t get the job. Could Cavill pull a J. J. Abrams directing both Wars and Trek, and play both American superhero icon Superman, and British spy icon Bond? We’ll see, but if his performance in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” is anything to go by, Cavill is more than ready for the job.
